Remember the porch? The one with the two chairs that faced the yard but never quite looked at it? The shade of the old oak tree hit just right around four o’clock, and the world slowed down enough to hear the ice cream truck three streets over.
“We’re made in the shade now, honey.”
It meant you’d arrived. Not at a place — at a feeling. The kind where the mortgage is paid, the kids are safe, and there’s a cold drink within arm’s reach. Nothing left to chase. Nothing left to prove.
This shirt is for the people who’ve earned their shade. And for the ones still working toward it.
